Here is what I got from K&N folks:

Hi Mark,

You emailed me in May 2001 regarding an air filter for your Savage LS650. We have finally released the air filter for this bike. The correct air filter is part# SU-6595. This filter fits the 1995-2001 models. The filter retails for $ 55.00.
